Senior Spotlight: Tiffaney Hughes
Today Triton High School honors the accomplishments of senior Tiffaney Hughes. Tiffaney is the daughter of Terry and Julia Hughes of Tippecanoe. Tiffaney plans to major in media communications at Indiana Wesleyan University as a student in IWU's John Wesley Honors College. As a student-athlete and musician, Tiffaney participated in track and field throughout high school, cross country her senior year, and marching band her sophomore and junior years. She plans to sign up for a few intramurals while at IWU.
Q&A with Tiffaney
Do you have any siblings? Yes, I have 2 two older brothers Joshua and Terry.
What awards did you earn during high school? As a sophomore and junior, I received gold ratings for my ISSMA piano solos.
What clubs or activities do you participate in outside of sports and music? DECA (9-12), Spirit Club (9-12), Student Council (10-12), Project 7 (9-10), Spanish Club (9-10), Science Club (10), Distinguished Young Women (12), Yearbook (12), Art Club (12)
Who were your role models growing up? Who inspires you today? My role models were my parents, my piano teacher, and some of the leaders in my church. I am mostly inspired by Audrey Hepburn, she was a very strong woman in a society that was dominated by the male population.
What do you consider your biggest life accomplishment so far? My biggest life accomplishment at the moment would be advancing to nationals for DECA. I set this goal after my first state competition, and I began to study/practice more to achieve this goal.
What impressions do you hope you've made as a scholar, athlete, and/or member of the community? I hope the impression that I’ve made at Triton is that I’m hardworking, kind, always willing to help/listen and that I’m dedicated to overcoming any obstacle.
Do you have any special talents? Some of my talents include playing the piano, guitar, and ukulele. I can also sign ASL (fun fact) and according to my mother, I’m really good at whining.
What's something interesting that most people don't know about you? I only crawled backward as a child, and as a result, learned to walk early.
If you won an all-expenses-paid trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go? I would go to Santorini, Greece!
If you had 2 hours every week to do anything you wanted, what would it be and why? Sleep, and relax! I tend to stretch myself too thin, so I can always use some downtime.
Is there anyone you would like to thank or give a shoutout to? There are so many people! However, I would specifically like to thank my parents and teachers at school for helping me through one of my lowest points. Without your support, I do not think I would have made it through.
Anything else you would like to share about yourself, your class, hopes, dreams..... ? I would like to formally announce that the coronavirus was not our senior prank or skip day... those are still being planned.
