The blanket of fog that dawned Saturday morning was still in the air when the Class A schools took to the start line for the start of The Largest High School Athletic Event in Indiana. The 57th Annual New Prairie Cross Country Invitational bought out almost 100 schools and over 1,200 Varsity Runners that day. The sun had started to burn through that fog by the time the Varsity Girls heard the gun go off. By the time the Varsity Class A Boys finished it was already becoming unbearably hot. The Class AA and AAA still waiting to have their race by the time Class A was done, it felt like a hot and humid day in July, not the day before fall season begins. A Huge Congratulations goes out to Senior, Rory Heckaman. Who was the lone Triton Award Winner on the day. She placed 33rd out of the Top 40 award winners in each class. The heat and humidity was obviously a factor as no one was able to match their times from last year. But the course and event always brings about fun and good memories on the day.
Westview's Girls Team took the top Class A school prize and Demonte Christian was first for the boys teams. Triton did not have enough for a team in either race.
