Junior High Boys and Girls at Manchester w/ Central Noble and Southwood - unreported as of 8/21
Varsity Boys and Girls
The Triton Varsity Cross Country teams kicked off their season last night at North Manchester in a 4 way meet between Manchester, Southwood, Central Noble and Triton. Southwood and Triton did not have enough members to field a team for the boys and neither, along with Central Noble, had enough girls to field a team. So, it was really an individual race on the clear cool evening.
Travis Barnhart led the boys coming in 12th overall out of 24 runners. After fighting terrible shin splint pain last season he’s back in good form and running back at the top where he should be. We hope he can stay healthy his Senior season! Andrew Gould, another Senior, keeps getting faster each season and was running neck and neck with Travis most of the race. We expect to see great things from him this season. Andrew placed 16th. Freshman Brady Heckaman burst onto the scene this year with a great first race coming in right behind Andrew in 18th place. The rest of our boys’ team, which includes Caden and Colton Large, and Jaydon Heckaman are playing double duty this fall season and had a tennis match last night. They should be back to fill out our boys’ team next meet.
On the girls’ side, Senior Rory Heckaman led the girls’ team with an impressive finish of 6th place out of 16 runners. Junior Kayla Poff was next to place for the Triton girls coming in at 8th place. New to the team this year is Macy Carson. She decided, in her junior year, to give XC a try. She came out and set a good time, placing 10th overall, but more importantly she said she LOVED it. I think she’s here for the rest of her HS career and we couldn’t be happier. Junior Rilee Bemish is our last team member. If only the girls had one more runner to put out a full team this year. Rilee was right behind Macy coming in 11th overall. We wish the girls the best on their individual efforts this year. If you know someone at Triton that likes to run. The girls could really use another member so they can field a team. Great job everyone. Lets go out and set some PR’s next meet.
