AKRON — Triton's 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams competed in the Tippecanoe Valley Middle School Tournament on Saturday, February 8, 2020.
The 7th grade team lost to Valley in the opening round 20-32. Valley's Mackaylie Costello led the Vikings with a game high 18 points while Triton saw 12 points from Maddison Miller and 2 points a piece from Sam Middaugh, Madison Mast, Mya Davis, and Kate Howell.
The 8th Grade Lady Trojans defeated Valley in the semi-final 29-24. Addyson Viers put up a game high 19 points, Jocelynn Faulkner added 6, and Danica Kuntz contributed 4 for the Trojans. Valley's scoring was lea by the 12 points of Ava Smith.
In the 8th Grade Championship game, Triton defeated Maconaquah 29-22 to take the tournament crown. Addyson Viers led all players with 14 points, Jocelynn Faulkner had 13, and Danica Kuntz added 2. Maconaquah's Miranda Stoll led her team with 12 points.
With the win, the 8th grade Lady Trojans move to 7-0 on the season before hosting Bremen tonight in the TAC. The 7th grade Lady Trojans (1-5) will play first starting at 5:00 pm.
