On Saturday morning, fourteen schools came out to compete in the 40th Annual Tippecanoe Valley Cross Country Invitational. The Junior High teams ran first and we would like to send out a huge congratulations to the Triton JH Girls Team on taking home the 1st place trophy on the day. Five, 8th grade girls placed in the top 15. That's a huge accomplishment and the varsity team can not wait until they join them next year. Back to the Varsity teams. Triton was again unable to field a team for both the girls and the boys. But it didn't stop them from running their best today. The field was fast as usual. The top varsity girl coming in at 21 minutes and the varsity boy coming in at 16 minutes. Senior Rory Heckaman led the girls and placed 19th overall today. Junior Rilee Bemish ran a good race and is looking better this year, even though she hates the heat, she keeps running better at each race.
The Varsity Boys ran well also. Senior Travis Barnhart led the boys today, with Andrew Gould close behind him. Freshman Brady Heckaman has been keeping up nicely with the seasoned runners on the team. The rest of the boys team that plays tennis also, will unfortunately be missing until conference. They are greatly missed but we wish them luck at their tennis matches.
